- **Weight loss in obesity**: Proven. ATTAIN-1, top dose: 12.4% average loss at 72 weeks among people who stayed on it and 11.1% counting everyone, against 2.1% on placebo.
- **Type 2 diabetes**: Proven. Authorized in the UK in August 2026. A US application was filed in 2026.

## Side effects and risks

- serious: Boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumors, as with the injectable GLP-1 drugs.
- common: Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and constipation, mostly while the dose is rising.
- common: In trials about 5% to 10% of people stopped because of side effects, depending on dose, against 3% on placebo.

Who should avoid it: Pregnancy, medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2 in you or your family.

## How it is taken

One tablet a day, at any time, with no food or water rules. Tablets run from 0.8 mg to 17.2 mg, and the dose is stepped up over months. A prescriber sets the schedule.

- European Union: undefined. The EMA committee backed Foundayo on 16 Oct 2026. The European Commission decision usually follows within about two months.
- Spain: undefined. Not in CIMA. The EMA committee backed Foundayo on 16 Oct 2026; the European Commission decision is pending, then national pricing and funding.
- Germany: undefined. Not yet authorised. EMA committee backed Foundayo on 16 Oct 2026; EU Commission decision awaited. Not sold in Germany yet.
- France: undefined. Not yet authorised. EMA committee backed Foundayo on 16 Oct 2026; European Commission decision awaited, so no French launch yet.
